Fenn Bruns, Sacramento, CA

Fenn (they/them) is a photographer, creative director, designer, and educator based in Sacramento, California. They are passionate about using photography as a means of healing and connection. Their images work to resist the neoliberal pursuit of hyper-visibility of marginalized identities by engaging in unique forms of semi-anonymity of the subject. Working within the frameworks of queer theory, Fenn utilizes “trans” and “queer” as actions that reject the physical surface of both the body and the image surface. They use photography to document something that is not visible, but manifests visually in a way that plays with the aesthetics and expectations of gender.
